About Me

Creative Music and Audio is the home for the professional music work I do. Whether it’s recording and mixing, songwriting and producing, here you will learn more about me, the work I’ve done, and the work I’m currently involved in.

Here is a quick Bio:

James Dellatacoma is a New York City-based Audio Engineer, Musician, and Record Producer.Since graduating in 2000 from the Conservatory of Recording Arts and Sciences (Tempe, AZ), James has worked for Producer, Bill Laswell at his Orange Music Sound Studio (NJ). Session highlights include work with Herbie Hancock, Angelique Kidjo, Nine Inch Nails, Matisyahu, Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), and Lee “Scratch” Perry. (see credits page for more details discography).

Through Laswell, James was introduced to Guitarist/Producer Tomás Doncker (CEO of True Groove Records). They quickly hit it off. James’ skills, focus, work ethos and recording process were very much in synch with how Tomas worked in the studio. It didn’t take long for James to became a partner at True Groove as the Head Engineer/Co-Producer for all of the label’s subsequent releases.

A skilled guitarist/multi-instrumentalist, James has been studying and playing for over 30 years. He has written and performed with the noise/rock quartet, Zelda Pinwheel, as well as the New Jersey-based, HipHop/Reggae ensemble, Pidgin Droppings.  He also plays guitar for The True Groove All-Stars, which is the backing band for Tomás Doncker, Finnish singer Sam Huber, Marla Mase, and Regina Bonelli.

All the while, Touchy Feely had existed as a solo project for James; it was an outlet for his sonic experimentations. Starting out as lo-fi bedroom music, Touchy Feely has developed over time, fully embracing the digital audio realm and its possibilities. His latest release, Title Huevo, on True Groove Records, exhibits a journey down the path of anthemic, electro-psych rock.
